Ethernet Routers

MEGAspeed layer 3 Ethernet routers are a quality cost-effective means of achieving network communication without compromising on performance and features. Layer 3 switches are excellent for routing communication between subnetworks within a larger network while WAN routers provide routing over service provider links. Routers are excellent for routing communication over large network backbones and for Internet connectivity.

Router features fall into the following categories:

• Type and number of service provider interfaces (ADSL, ISDN, POTS, leased line) or WAN ports
• Type and number of (Ethernet or wireless) LAN ports
• Communications protocols supported
• Algorithms or methods of routing or switching packets across the LAN or WAN
• Security (means of restricting access or encryption) for threats within the LAN or WAN
• Remote management and monitoring of configuration and performance

For a router with wireless LAN capablilty, please see the MEGAspeed Wireless Solution datasheet.
